- Expect to have some culture shock, but go with the flow.
- Storage is scarce. Bring only what you really need.
- Don't shop a good car. Buy one here - they are readily available.
- Bring humidifiers, air purifiers, and filters if you are sensitive to air quality.
- Allow plenty of time when driving anywhere.
- Bring a good umbrella and a pair of Crocs if you arrive between June and October, since there will be lots of rains.
- Spend your free time profitably by learning a new skill or hobby.
- Bring your applicances, but remember that you may need transformers.
- Use unaccompanied baggage for electronic devices, such as printers, scanners, laptops, etc. Library doesn't provide scanner.
- Don't bring a cell phone or calling cards from home; they won't work here.
- Be patient and have a sense of humor.
- Stock up on shoes before you come. Except for athlectic shoes, the selection at the PX and on the economy is very small.
- Get involved in your community.
- Always carry tissues or toliet paper when yhou travel off post.
- Make sure your socks and stockings are in good shape (no holes) before you go to a Korean restaurant or home, since you may be taking off your shoes.
- Carry a calculator when shopping off post to help negotiate prices.
- Bring family photos and other sentimental items to help with loneliness.
- Remember: you're not alone.
- A DVD player is very useful since there is limited English TV off post.
- Bottomline: make the most out of any situation. Bloom where you're planted!
